a little about me...
What I do

I specialise in character animation and motion design, primarily making use of my extensive experience in After Effects and BlenderGenerally this means two things for my clients: I create exciting and informative short animated films, and I produce logos, stings, banners, and more for use in branding.
I've knowledge of many areas of 2D and 3D production be it moving, still, screen-based or projected. I am equally at home creating vibrant, elaborate illustrations or clean, modern branding - all of which can fit seamlessly into my animation workflow as required.
On a personal noteI'm an established digital painter, and have recently exhibited in Tokyo, New York, Craiova, Montreal, Lisbon, and Paris. I also support shows in Norwich and Cambridge through invigilation and A/V setup.
Why we should work together

Got an idea for an animation for your businessI can work an entire project through scriptstoryboard, animatic, production, and leave you with a goodie-bag of high quality deliverables for any use.
Agency or studio looking to fill your rosterI'll jump on board at any stage of a projectbe it initial concepts or final amends. Happy working solo or integrating with your in-house team!
I can quote per-project, on a day-rate basis, or through a retainerwhatever suits your budget and schedule.
The backbone of my workflow is flexibility and organisation, which means project file hand-off is also a reliable optionNo messy projects or unnamed layers here.
...and about that name
aknouen ("ack-now-en") is a Middle English transitive verb, derived from the Old English oncnāwan.
It means "to acknowledge, recognise something as a fact, know, or make".
It's also what happens when an animator named Alex Morgan wants to rebrand their freelance business and realises that all the good URLs/social handles are already taken.
fun fact!
In December 2018 I was successful in securing funding through the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership Small Grant Scheme to grow my business and expand into VR animation. This amazing grant is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
